Gaura Onagraceae (Butterfly Gaura)
Graceful, airy panicles of short lived flowers although with a continuous bloom cycle. No deadheading needed, but can to produced more blooms. Best in full sun, will tolerate partial shade. Tolerant of drought and requires well drained soil. Protect roots in zone 5 and 6.
2004: Great growth rate, continuous bloom - No fuss / care plant - making it a favorite. Stopped blooming end of Aug. Does well in droughts.

CULTIVATION: Fertile, moist but well drained soil in full sun. Drought and partial shade tolerated.
PROPAGATION: Divide clumps in spring to start new plants or basal/softwood cuttings in spring or semi-ripe heel cuttings in summer.
PESTS AND DISEASES: Prone to rust, cercospora and septoria leaf spots and sometimes downy and powdery mildews. I have not seen a problem and have not seen any pests so far.
