Hedera (Yellow Ripple), English Ivy
Yellow Ripple has silver-green and yellow variegated foliage. Its leaves are fairly large and its color scheme makes it versatile for many color combinations. Half-hardy plant with cold tolerance. Water when soil is dry to the touch. If in a container, be sure the excess water can drain away. Feeding Twice per month in landscapes. Once per week in containers. Doing well, semi-evergreen.

CULTIVATION: Under glass, grow in soil based or soilless potting mix in bright indirect to low light. Water freely when in growth, applying a balanced liquid fertilizer monthly; keep moist in winter. Outdoors, ivies tolerate a range of conditions but grow best in fertile, humus rich, moist but well drained soil. Green leaved ivies are shade tolerant. Variegated cultivars prefer more light, with protection from strong summer sun. Where marginally hardy, protect all ivies from winter sun and wind. To encourage rapid establishment, break off the lowest 2-4 leaves of young plants and bury up to the lowest leaf axil.
PROPAGATION: Root 4-6 inch semi ripe cuttings of juvenile growth from spring to autumn; variegated and those with poorly developed root systems take longer. Use 7-9 month old adult growth to obtain plants with a bushy , tree ivy habit, but they root very slowly, if at all.
PESTS AND DISEASES: Susceptible to bacterial spot, stem rot, and fungal leaf spots, as well as spider mites, aphids, mealybugs, and scale insects. Deer may eat the foliage.
